
Pitching Headlines Split Doubleheader with Gwinnett

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds continued a 13-game homestand and began a seven-game series with a 6-1 win and a 1-0 loss against the Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A, Atlanta Braves) on Tuesday night at AutoZone Park.
Gordon Graceffo (4-3) dominated the Stripers lineup in game on. The right-handed pitcher tossed 115 pitches in 7.0 innings, allowed one run on five hits, walked four and struck out five batters. In game two, Sem Robberse (4-2) was given a tough-luck loss after he tossed 6.0 innings of one-run, four-hit baseball. The right-handed pitcher, who allowed his lone run in the first inning, walked one and struck out five.
The big inning for the Memphis bats came in the third inning of game one. With two outs, the Redbirds rallied with four hits to score five runs in the frame. Memphis took a 2-1 lead on a second baseman Jose Fermin RBI double and added to it with a shortstop Thomas Saggese RBI single. First baseman Luken Baker put an exclamation point on the frame with a three-run home run, his third blast in as many games.
The Memphis Redbirds return to AutoZone Park to continue a 13-game homestand and continue a seven-game series against the Gwinnett Stripers on Wednesday, May 15 with first pitch scheduled for 12:05 p.m. CDT.
