July 17, 2018 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

The IronPigs blasted five home runs against the Clippers on the way to the 10-6 win. This is the third time that the Pigs have left the yard five times in a game, which ties a franchise record. The Pigs are now 20 games above .500.

Jacob Waguespack (1-5) earned the first win of his AAA career with five solid innings. Waguespack allowed six-hits, while striking out four. The Clippers scored three runs against Waguespack in his five innings but only two were earned.

Joey Meneses sits atop the IL with 17 home runs on the season with his two-run go-ahead home run in the top of the first inning. Lehigh Valley leads the IL with 105 home runs. Danny Espinosa put the Pigs back on top in the top of the second with a two-run home run, the first of his IronPigs career.

For the second time in three days, Mitch Walding homered twice in a game; he now ranks second in the IL with 15. Zach Green, who had 17 home runs in AA Reading, blasted his first AAA home run. He and Walding went back-to-back off of Alexi Ogando in the top of the seventh.

The Pigs had six players in the lineup with two hits and eight of nine with at least one. Danny Espinosa doubled in addition to his home run and drove in three runs for the IronPigs. The top of the order, Anna, Green, Walding, Meneses combined to go 8-18 with four home runs, six runs batted in and six runs scored.

In addition to the five innings tossed by Waguespack, the bullpen provided four innings of relief. Yacksel Rios was tagged for two runs but struck out two in his inning of work. Tyler Gilbert continued the stellar start to his IronPigs career. Gilbert has not allowed a run in five outings, tossed two perfect innings while striking out two. Zac Curtis allowed one run to score in the ninth but closed out the win for Lehigh Valley.

Lehigh Valley and Columbus wrap up their three-game series with the Clippers tomorrow night at 7:05. Tom Eshelman takes the hill for the Pigs in the finale at Huntington Park.

The Pigs will not return to Coca-Cola Park until July 24 when they welcome the Gwinett Stripers.
