
First-Place Pigs Play Matinee Today in Columbus

The Pigs and Clippers play some afternoon baseball today with a 12:05 p.m. first pitch at Huntington Park.
PITCHING MATCHUP Jacob Waguespack returns to the mound for the IronPigs against Dominic DeMasi of the Clippers. Today's starting pitching matchup is presented by Allentown Family Foot Care, which provides the latest in medical and surgical treatments of the entire foot and ankle. Learn more at affc.com.
Jacob Waguespack makes his sixth start of the season for the Pigs and his 12th appearance overall. Between Double-A and Triple-A, Waguespack has made 18 appearances and 12 starts. Last time out, Waguespack allowed just one run over six-innings but did not earn a decision against Buffalo. The Pigs will get their first look at Dominic DeMasi. The 25-year-old is making his fourth Triple-A appearance; he is 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA with the Clippers. He is 6-2 in 19 appearances and seven starts with Akron in 2018.
LAST NIGHT Dean Anna singled home Danny Espinosa in the top of the eighth to put the Pigs ahead for good in their 3-1 victory last night in Columbus. Joey Meneses hit his league-leading 16th home run in the second inning while IL All-Star starter Cole Irvin tossed six shutout innings without earning a decision. Click here to read a full recap.
HEAD-TO-HEAD The IronPigs took the first game of the season series last night. The victory moved the IronPigs to 19 games above .500.
The Pigs took four out of six from the Clippers last season. All six games in the series were played in April and the Pigs took two out of three in each series. Lehigh Valley is now 27-49 all-time against Columbus.
NEXT WEEK AT COCA-COLA PARK The Pigs will not return home until July 24 when they welcome the Gwinett Stripers. That Tuesday evening contest will be Christmas in July at Coca-Cola Park with 1,500 kids receiving an IronPigs Elf on the Shelf presented by Lutron.
