Hens Drop Game Two of Home Series

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo Mud Hens dropped game two of a three game series versus the Scranton / Wilkes-Barre RailRiders by a score of 8-4 on Tuesday afternoon at Fifth Third Field.

The Mud Hens tied the game in the fourth inning after scoring three runs on a walk, single and two doubles. Harold Castro recorded his second multi-RBI game of the campaign with a one-out two-RBI double in the fourth.

After a scoreless first inning, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre was able to plate three runs in the second inning on five hits. The first three hits in the inning were softly hit over the infield and landed in front of the outfielders. With one out, Fransisco Diaz singled to left to score Shane Robinson. L.J. Mazzilli then roped a double down the left field line to score Mark Peyton and Diaz to give the RailRiders a three-run advantage.

Scranton added another run in the third inning as the Hens turned a 6-4-3 double play allowing Brandon Drury to score. Toledo answered back in the bottom half of the inning as Dixon Machado hit a line drive double to right center field to score Jacob Robson. After three innings of play the Hens trialed 4-1.

In the fourth inning, Jason Krizan smacked a one out double off the Pepsi sign in right field. Chad Huffman then drew a walk to give Toledo runners on first and second. Edwin Espinal hit a bloop single to shallow right field to juice the basses. Jarrod Salalamacchia drew a walk after being down in an 0-2 count and Krizan scored. Harold Castro then ripped a double past the first baseman bringing Huffman and Espinal around to score and tying the game at four runs apiece.

Jacob Turner's afternoon came to an end after six innings of work allowing four earned runs on eight hits. Turner also recorded three strikeouts while walking two before handing the ball off to Phillippe Aumont.

Scranton retook to lead in the eighth inning on a passed ball that scored Robinson. Later in the at bat, Diaz hit an infield single and an error by Lugo allowed Mark Peyton to score. Abiatal Avelino hit a bloop single that brought in Diaz for the RailRiders third run of the inning. Hunter Cervenka came on for the Hens as Aumont made his exit with two outs and a runner on first. Aumont tossed one and two thirds innings allowing four earned runs on five hits while tallying one walk. Billy McKinney roped a double into the right field gap to score Avelino but was caught stretching for the final out of the inning. Scranton took an 8-4 advantage heading into the bottom half of the inning.

Cervenka pitched one and one third scoreless innings allowing one hit and one walk.

What's Next:

The Toledo Mud Hens are back in action tomorrow evening for the final game of the three-game series with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Fifth Third Field.

- Dawel Lugo started in the 2018 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Sunday at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. Lugo went 1-for-2 with a single and run scored while hitting ninth and playing third base for Team World.
