
Pigs Drop Series Opener to Clippers, 4-2

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (51-63) dropped the series opener to the Columbus Clippers (63-50) by a score of 4-2 on Friday night at Huntington Park.
Lehigh Valley managed just five hits in the game.
Brian Bogusevic's (2-3, 2B, HR, RBI, R) solo shot in the top of the first off of Clippers starter Toru Murata gave the IronPigs an early 1-0 lead. It was Bogusevic's eighth home run of the season.
Murata (11-4) gave up two runs on four hits while walking one and fanning a pair in 7.2 IP. RHP Carlos Marmol (1.1 IP, 4 K) got the final four outs to pick up his sixth save of the season.
In the home half of the second, Anthony Gallas tied it at one for the Clippers with a solo blast off of Pigs starter Jesse Biddle. It was the first home run of the season for Gallas.
Columbus took a 2-1 lead with a run in the third as Erik Gonzalez reached with a one-out single and scored from first on Jesus Aguilar's RBI double.
A pair of runs in the fourth opened up a 4-1 lead for the Clippers as Audy Ciriaco came through with an RBI triple and later scored on Justin Toole's RBI single.
Biddle (2-2) allowed four runs on nine hits to go along with a walk and five strikeouts over five innings of work.
Chris McGuiness' solo shot in the top of the seventh brought the Pigs within 4-2. It was the third home run of the season for McGuiness.
RHP Colton Murray (2.0 IP, H, K) and RHP Nefi Ogando (1.0 IP, K) each had scoreless outings in relief for manager Dave Brundage's squad.
The series continues on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. as IronPigs RHP Alec Asher (0-0, 6.00) will be on the bump against Columbus RHP Shaun Marcum (7-2, 2.30).
