Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will open a three-game set with the Columbus Clippers on Friday night at Huntington Park. First pitch of the series opener is set for 7:15 p.m. The IronPigs enter play at 51-62 on the year and in fourth place in the North Division after taking three of four at Toledo. Columbus sits in second place in the West Division at 62-50 on the year after taking two of three vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
LHP Jesse Biddle (2-1, 4.44) gets the ball for the IronPigs on Friday. Biddle was tagged with the loss on Sunday vs. Norfolk when he allowed four runs on eight hits while walking three and fanning a pair in 6.1 IP. Thus far in 5 GS with Lehigh Valley, left-handed hitters are batting just .175 (7-40) against the Philadelphia native.
RHP Toru Murata (10-4, 3.06) will be on the bump for Columbus. The right-hander got the win in his last start after giving up four runs on five hits to go along with a walk and three strikeouts over six innings of work on Saturday at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. With runners in scoring position this season, opponents are hitting just .210 (21-100) against Murata. Despite having spent parts of four seasons in the International League, tonight will mark Murata's first career appearance against the IronPigs.
