Philadelphia Union News Release
CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union announced today that it has entered into an agreement with UniMás Television Group for the club's first-ever Spanish-language broadcast partnership. The deal provides for local Philadelphia UniMás affiliate WFPA to broadcast four upcoming 2019 Union matches in Spanish: 4/20 vs. Montreal, 6/2 at Minnesota, 9/29 at Columbus and 10/6 vs. NYCFC.
"As we look to expand our fanbase and our footprint within the Delaware Valley, it was important for us to have a Spanish-language broadcast," said Tim McDermott, Union Chief Business Officer. "This partnership with UniMás is a great first step as we continue to grow the Union here at home. Philadelphia's Spanish-speaking population is an important and growing demographic and it's vital for us to continue to reach out to them. We look forward to the beginning of our relationship with UniMás and further growth together."
The Spanish-language broadcasts will be anchored by Andres Quinones and Marvin Rivera. Quinones is a highly experienced Univision sports anchor with experience in the Philadelphia, Atlanta and Raleigh markets. Meanwhile, Marvin Rivera began his career at the Colombian network RCN working on professional soccer broadcasts.
UniMás is available in the Philadelphia area on all major television providers, including Xfinity (797) and DirecTV (408).
