Pheasants Hit Hard in Grand Prairie

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas. - The Grand Prairie AirHogs piled up 10 runs in the first two innings on their way to a 12-1 rout of the Sioux Falls Pheasants on Thursday night.

The AirHogs captured the rubber game of the three-game series to pull 1 1/2 games behind Laredo in the South Division race.

Pheasants starter Barry Fowler (1-3) could not get through the second inning, allowing 10 runs, six earned in just 1 1/3 innings.

Brian Myrow started the AirHogs' offense with an RBI triple to score the first of two runs in the first inning. He went on to go 3-for-3 with a double, triple and four RBI.

Two Pheasants errors opened the door to an eight-run second inning. Grand Prairie sent 12 men to the plate, and all but one scored a run. The AirHogs cracked 16 hits total.

Jared Bolden's sacrifice fly in the sixth inning accounted for the Pheasants' only run. John Brownell (8-7) tossed seven strong innings, holding the Pheasants to one unearned on just four hits. He walked one and struck out five.

Tom Heithoff threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings in relief for the Pheasants.

The Pheasants begin a four-game series, their final of the year, against the El Paso Diablos at 8:05 p.m. on Friday, August 31. The contest will be broadcast on Sioux Falls Sports Radio 1230-AM KWSN and www.kwsn.com.
