Wichita Wingnuts News Release
WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Wingnuts and SONIC Drive-In will recognize and award grants to three Wichita public school teachers before the Wingnuts' final regular season home game tonight at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
The grants are part of SONIC's Limeades for Learningé program and a result of a special partnership with the Wingnuts. SONIC has donated $25 for every run scored at home by the team this regular season to fund Wichita-area Limeades for Learning classroom projects. The donation will total more than $7,100 upon Thursday's completion of the season.
"SONIC, like all Wingnut fans, has been rooting for the hometown team all season long," said Jon Brannin, senior marketing director for SONIC. "The team's success on the diamond this year will make for even more happy Wichita teachers and inspired students."
Since 2009, SONIC Drive-In has donated more than $2 million to public school classrooms across the country through Limeades for Learning. Each year, SONIC partners with DonorsChoose.org to let the general public direct more than half a million dollars of SONIC donations to the classroom projects of their choice.
The Wingnuts have partnered with SONIC Drive-In to help Wichita public school teachers with registered Limeades for Learning projects receive even more funding. The donation, as part of the Wingnuts' promotion, will be in addition to the national SONIC funding of all Limeades for Learning-registered projects. Wichita public school teachers are eligible through public voting.
Public school teachers can register classroom projects at LimeadesforLearning.com. The public will be able to vote for their favorite projects on the website this September 24th through October 29th, with the top vote-getting projects being funded by SONIC each week for five weeks.
