Despite Penalties, Saints Will Collect Bounty for Big Hits

ST. PAUL, MN (August 30, 2012) - The Saints manager won't be suspended, the league's commissioner won't be handing down large fines and the players will openly admit they are going for the big hit. Call it Bountygate II.

"This is going to be the biggest game of our season and we're going to go out and lay the wood on them," said a source from the Saints organization. "We'll be SHARPER than them and we will deliver big hit after big hit after big hit."

The evidence against the Saints for big hits will be in plain sight. No tape recorded meetings will be used for evidence or someone trying to determine whose voice is screaming "Give me the money."

On Saturday, September 1, the one year anniversary of Minnesota's youth concussion law going into effect, the St. Paul Saints will be gunning for the opposition and plan to PAY a TON of money for a worthy cause. For each bone crunching hit the Saints will collect a bounty and the bigger the hit, the larger the sum: a single is worth $100, a double $200, a triple $300 and a home run is worth $400. For every pitcher the Saints "knock-out" another $50 will be collected. Each time a Saints pitcher "punches out" an opposing hitter, $10 will be donated. At the end of the night all the money collected from the bounty system will be placed in a LOOMIS armored truck and taken to Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota and donated to their new concussion research program.

The first 500 fans entering the game that night will receive a football helmet piggy bank with the Saints logo on one side (the S will be in the shape of a $) and the Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota logo on the other. It should be a BREEZE for fans to fill it up with their own bounty and they can take the piggy bank to Children's (either the Minneapolis or St. Paul hospital locations) to donate the money to concussion research.

The St. Paul Saints are an Independent minor league baseball team in the American Association. They are well known for such promotions as the bobblefoot giveaway, Randy Moss hood ornament, the Love Boat, Bud Selig/Donald Fehr seat cushion night, Michael Vick Chew Toy giveaway and last season's Tweeting Wiener boxer shorts.

On September 1 the Saints take on the Wichita Wingnuts at 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6:00 p.m.

Tickets for Saints home games are $5 for general admission, $8 for outfield reserved and $12 for infield reserved. Tickets purchased on the Day of the Game are an additional $1 per ticket. The Saints have three games remaining in the regular season, September 1-3. Tickets for the Sunday, September 2 Fireworks Super Show are an additional $3 per ticket. Children under the age of 14 and seniors 65 and older receive $1 off the admission price. Children under 2 that don't require a seat are free.
