PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced today that South Carolina forward Rich Peverley is the In Glass Co ECHL Player of the Week for January 10-16.

The 6-0 and 190-pound rookie scored five goals and added two assists while helping the Stingrays go 3-0-0 for the week and extend their winning streak to five games. After scoring two goals and assisting on the game-winning goal in a 5-2 win against Columbia on January 11, the 22-year-old Peverley had his third two-goal game and his sixth multiple-point game with three points (2g-1a) in a 4-3 win at Gwinnett on January 14. He ended the week scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win at Augusta on January 15.

"Rich is certainly worthy of this recognition," said Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons. "He has been a huge part of our recent success and should continue to put up big offensive numbers for us in the second half of the season."

Under contract to Portland of the American Hockey League, Peverley has nine points (6g-3a) and a plus-minus rating of +3 during South Carolina's current five-game winning streak. He is tied for 18th among ECHL rookies with 25 points (13g-12a) and ranks third on the Stingrays in scoring and power-play points (9).

The Guelph, Ontario native spent four years playing collegiate hockey with St. Lawrence University, scoring 117 points (44g-73a) in 138 games, including career bests in goals (17), assists (25) and points (41) in 42 games as a senior.

The Stingrays will play at home tonight against the Johnstown Chiefs at 7:05. After traveling to Columbia on Friday, the Rays will host Louisiana on Saturday night at 7:05 and Johnstown on Sunday afternoon at 3:00.
