Augusta Lynx News Release

Louis Goulet registered a goal and an assist to pace the Augusta Lynx to a 3-2 shootout win against the Florida Everblades in Ft. Myers on Tuesday.

Despite coming in ranked last in the league with the man advantage, Florida would notch the only goal of the first period with a power play marker from Matt Hendricks. Hendricks beat Jason Saal with a shot from the right point on which Saal appeared to be screened at 5:17 for a 1-0 lead. Chris Lee and Steve Saviano added the assists on the goal for the Everblades. The Lynx would end up with a five-on-three advantage later in the period, but failed to score to even the contest.

Augusta struck back in the second period when Louis Goulet scored his tenth of the year from Matt Dzieduszycki and Jamie Johnson at 6:24. Johnson made a perfect feed to Goulet in the slot as he crashed down from his defensive perch, beating Everblades rookie netminder Craig Kowalski through the legs to tie the game.

In the third, the Lynx took the lead just 23 seconds in after an icing call resulted in a faceoff to the left of Kowalski. Johnson won the draw back to Goulet, who put the puck on net where it was tipped home by Jim Shepherd to make it 2-1 Augusta. A short while later, the Everblades struck back with their second power play goal of the contest at 3:02 when Chris Lee's point shot found its way through traffic and into the Lynx net for a 2-2 score. Steve Saviano picked up his second assist on the play with Matt Pagnutti adding help as well, forcing the game into overtime and then a shootout. In the extra session, the Lynx would score twice while Florida could only manage a single marker against Saal to earn the two points and a 3-2 final. Saal would finish with 28 saves through overtime, and four of five in the shootout. Kowalski also finished with 28 saves through overtime.

Augusta's next game action will be Friday night in Biloxi, Mississippi against the Sea Wolves. Game time will be at 8:35 pm, with pre-game show airing live on NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630 with Tom Callahan at 8:05 pm.
