Johnstown Chiefs News Release
The Johnstown Chiefs (13-11-9; 35 PTS; 6th North div.) had a tough week as they went 0-3-0. They suffered home losses to Toledo and Wheeling and a road loss at Wheeling Friday night. This week the Chiefs embark on seven day, four game road trip in the Carolinas. The Chiefs are currently in sixth place in the North division, trailing fifth place Toledo by four points and fourth place Trenton by seven points.

Game #31 (1/14/04) WHEELING 4 - Johnstown 2 Tallari Goal Friday night the Chiefs were in Wheeling where they would lose 4-2 at the Westbanco Arena. Joe Tallari and Mike James scored the Johnstown goals. Ray DiLauro had a pair of goals for the Nailers. Chiefs goaltender David Cann suffered the loss making 23 saves. Dany Sabourin made 28 saves for the Nailers.
Game #32 (1/15/05) Toledo 5 - JOHNSTOWN 2 Cavanagh Goal, Assist The Johnstown Chiefs lost their second straight game Saturday night, as they fell 5-2 at home to the Toledo Storm. Maris Zeidens led the Storm with three goals. Tomas Mika and Tyler Knight also scored for Toledo. Chad Cavanagh and Adam Henrich scored for Johnstown. Johnstown goaltender David Currie suffered the loss making 27 saves. Toledo goaltender Scott Fankhouser made 23 saves for his 13th win of the season.
Game #33 (1/16/05) Wheeling 5- JOHNSTOWN 1 Hildenbrand Lone Goal Sunday afternoon, the Chiefs suffered their second straight home loss as they fell 5-1 to the Wheeling Nailers. All five goals given up by the Chiefs were on special teams as the Nailers scored four power play goals and one shorthanded goal. Steve Hildenbrand scored the Chiefs lone goal. David Currie started the game, allowing four goals. David Cann made seven in saves. Wheeling goaltender Dany Sabourin stopped 43 out of 44 Johnstown shots.

Tuesday night and Sunday afternoon, the Chiefs will play in Charleston, SC for the first time in eight seasons when they take on the South Carolina Stingrays (17-14-3, 37 PTS; 5th East div.). The Stingrays have won five straight games and are 5-3-2 in their last ten games. The Chiefs are 7-7-0 all-time against the Stingrays.

Thursday night, the Chiefs move into North Carolina and when they take on the Charlotte Checkers (22-13-2, 46 PTS; 1st East div.). The Chiefs are 5-5-0 against the Checkers all-time. The Checkers are currently on a five game winning streak.

Saturday night the Chiefs will head to Florence, SC to take on the Pee Dee Pride for the third time this season. Earlier this season the two teams faced one another in a pair of games at the War Memorial, with the Pride coming away with a shootout and overtime win. The Chiefs are 2-0-3 all-time against Pee Dee. The Pride is 6-4-0 in their last ten games.
CHIEFS NOTES:
- The Chiefs were 9 for 18 (50%) on the penalty kill in three games last week.
- This week, the Chiefs will embark on their longest road trip thus far this season. The trip spans seven days and covers almost 1,900 miles. The Chiefs will visit the South Carolina Stingrays on Tuesday and Sunday. In between, they will play in Charlotte Thursday night and Pee Dee on Saturday.
- The Chiefs are 1 for 28 (4%) on the power play in their last five games.
