Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Falcons goaltender Jamie Hodson was named the ECHL's Reebok Hockey Saver of the Week today for the week of Jan. 10 - 16, becoming the first Falcons player to earn a league player of the week award since the team joined the ECHL last season.

Hodson helped lead the Falcons to a perfect 3-0-0 record on the road last week by recording 38 saves in a 4-2 victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers on Jan. 10 and then a total of 59 saves on 61 shots against in a pair of 2-1 wins against the Alaska Aces this past Friday and Saturday. The latter win at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage went to a shootout, where the former third round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs stopped four of five Alaska shooters for his league-best fifth shootout victory.

In addition to his 3-0-0 mark, Hodson's totals for the week included a 1.30 goals against average and 96.0% save percentage. On the season, he is 10-3-0 with a 2.78 goals against average and 91.7% save percentage.

Although no other Falcons player had been recognized by the ECHL for one of its weekly awards until now, Hodson earned Saver of the Week accolades once during the 2002-03 season when he was playing for the Greensboro Generals.

The Falcons put their 7-0-1 record in 2005 on the line tonight when they host the Pensacola Ice Pilots at Save Mart Center at 7 p.m. Tickets are now on sale for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at the Save Mart Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497) or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
