San Diego Gulls News Release
SAN DIEGO â The San Diego Gulls have now raised about $4,000 for the Asia Tsunami victims, the ECHL club announced on Tuesday. That number will climb with the Gulls' Boxer Shorts Auction, which runs until Friday afternoon.
During Saturday's game against the Louisiana IceGators, the Gulls raised about $2,700 for the Tsunami victims. This was achieved through San Diego's "Chuck-a-Puck" sales and collection bins stationed on the concourse and passed around the arena. The Gulls also donated a portion from every terrace ticket purchased.
At the Jan. 5 and Jan. 8 games, the Gulls helped raise about $1,300 through ticket sales and a special team autograph session.
All the proceeds collected through the Boxer Shorts Auction, which will run live on the Gulls' web site (www.sandiegogulls.com) until Friday, will also be donated to the Tsunami victims.
Special pairs of Gulls boxer shorts, courtesy of Coast-to-Coast Tax Service, were given away to the first 6,000 fans in attendance for Saturday's game. For the auction, each Gulls player and coach autographed a pair of boxer shorts.
A list of the updated bids is on the home page of the Gulls' web site and will be updated periodically every day. To place a bid, e-mail golmen@sandiegogulls.com.
The auction officially started Saturday and will close Friday at 4 p.m. (PST). For more information and instructions on the bidding process, log onto www.sandiegulls.com.
San Diego continues its homestand Wednesday against the Las Vegas Wranglers, with game-time set for 7:05 p.m. It will be a "Casino Night" Wacky Wednesday, featuring two Blackjack tables on the concourse. Fans who participate will be playing for the charity, "Partying for a Purpose." The Gulls host the Wranglers again on Friday before closing out the first half of the season Saturday against the Pensacola Ice Pilots.
All games can be heard live on KLSD 1360AM and www.sandiegogulls.com with Chris Ello calling the play-by-play. All home games and many road games can be viewed on the Gulls' web site, courtesy of B2 Networks. Click the B2 Networks link on the home page for a list of the upcoming telecasted games.
