Falcons' Hodson Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jamie Hodson is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Saver of the Week for January 10-16.

Acquired in a December trade with Reading, the 24-year-old Hodson was 3-0-0 with a goals-against average of 1.30 and a save percentage of .960 as Fresno went 3-0-0. After making 38 saves in a 4-2 win at Las Vegas on January 10, the 6-2 and 198-pound Hodson had 31 saves in a 2-1 win at Alaska on January 14. The native of Lenore, Manitoba closed out the week making 27 saves in regulation and one save in overtime before stopping four of five shooters in the shootout for a 2-1 shootout win at Alaska on January 15, his league-leading fifth shootout victory.

Selected in the third round (69th overall) by Toronto in the 1998 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Hodson is 6-0-0 with three shootout wins in his last six starts, improving his record with Fresno to 10-3-0 while lowering his goals-against average to 2.78 and raising his save percentage to .917.

In 2003-04, Hodson played in the ECHL with Greensboro, going 17-11-1 while finishing second in the league with a save percentage of .929, and in the American Hockey League with St. John's. In his first full professional season in 2001-02, Hodson was 20-9-3 with one shutout and a save percentage of .911 in 36 games with South Carolina of the ECHL. In 2002-03, he was 9-4-1 in 14 games with Greensboro of the ECHL and 8-7-2 in 22 games with St. John's of the AHL.

Prior to turning professional, Hodson played four seasons of junior hockey for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League, compiling a 57-53-9 record in 131 games.
