Penguins Re-Assign Penner to Nailers

March 1, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wheeling Nailers News Release

Wheeling, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, the 'AA' affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, announce today that goaltender Andrew Penner has been assigned to the team from Wilkes-Barre Scranton.

Penner, a 24-year-old native of Scarborough, Ontario, has spent the entirety of this year with Wilkes-Barre Scranton of the American Hockey League.

In 28 games this year with the Baby Pens, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound backstop recorded an impressive 18-7-1 record with three shutouts and a 2.91 goals-against average.

His 18 wins and three shutouts both rank in the top ten in the AHL.

Penner joins the Nailers goaltending corps of Andy Franck and Danny Taylor, which has, almost overnight, become one of the best in the ECHL.

The Nailers play host to the Dayton Bombers on Friday, the Johnstown Chiefs on Saturday and the Reading Royals on Sunday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Friday is the third and final collector's puck giveaway for the first 2500 fans. Saturday is Faith and Family Night and fans are encouraged to stay after the game for a free concert from the band, New Method. Bring the family out on Sunday for Sunday Family Fun Day and mascot mania. And as always, skate with the Nailers after the game.

Tickets are available by calling 304-234-GOAL, by visiting the Nailers team store located at 1315 Main St. in downtown Wheeling or online at www.WheelingNailers.com.
