
Stingrays Announce First Annual Chili Cook Off

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays announced today the 1st Annual Chili Cook Off and Tailgate Extravaganza will take place at the North Charleston Coliseum before the Stingrays last regular season home game against the Texas Wildcatters on Saturday, April 7.
The official entry fee is $110 per team, which includes 10 upper level tickets to the game that evening and $25 of each team entry fee goes towards a charity of the overall winning team's choice. Additional tickets may be purchased at $10 per ticket for the upper level.
Entrance to the Extravaganza to taste the chili and vote on your favorite is free to the public with a ticket to the Stingrays game that evening. Judging will commence at 4 p.m.
Winners will be chosen from the following categories: Best Overall, Spiciest, Wimpiest, Best with Anything Other than Beef, Best Showmanship, and Fan Favorite. Celebrity judges will chose the winners except Fan Favorite, which will be decided by those in attendance.
Teams have the option of pre-cooking the chili or cooking it on-site; if teams choose to cook at the North Charleston Coliseum parking lot, the cooking can begin at 1 p.m. Please note that teams are responsible for supplying all utensils, cookware, sample cups and spoons. The suggested sample size is 2oz to 4oz and teams must cook a minimum of two quarts of competition chili to be submitted for judging. Also note that no power will be provided; contestants must bring their own portable stove or generator.

The Stingrays travel to Pensacola this weekend for a back-to-back series against the Ice Pilots. Saturday night's game begins at 8:05 p.m. and can be heard live on ESPN Radio 910 the Team with Mike Kelly, "Voice of the Rays." Stingrays Hockey - A Whole Lot Cooler!
