Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have clinched a spot in the Calder Cup Playoffs following Friday night's 6-1 win over the Springfield Falcons.

The Penguins victory gives the team 94 points on the year, and ensures that neither the Binghamton Senators (81 points with four games to play) nor the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (80 points with six games to play) can catch the Penguins in the East Division standings.

This will be the sixth straight playoff appearance, and the seventh in nine years, for the Penguins. The last time the team did not qualify for the postseason was following the 2001-02 campaign.

Full playoff ticket packages, as well as individual tickets for home games A, B and C of the East Division Semifinals, are on sale now. Contact the Penguins ticketing department at 570-208-7367 for more information.
