Peoria Rivermen News Release

The Peoria Rivermen continue to fight for their playoff lives tonight in Iowa against the Stars at 7:07 pm, with coverage beginning on 96.5 ESPN Radio at 6:35 pm.

Peoria brings a 3-3-0-2 record in against the Stars, and defeated Iowa 6-2 at home in the last meeting between the two clubs back on March 22 at Carver Arena. With the Rivermen heading into tonight sitting seven points out of a possible playoff spot with seven games remaining, every point matters.

The West Division currently features a tie from third through fifth place at 88 points between the Houston Aeros, San Antonio Rampage, and Milwaukee Admirals. Houston and San Antonio have played 73 games, the same as Peoria. The Admirals have played 74 games to this point. Milwaukee is at San Antonio tonight while Houston visits Grand Rapids.

The Rivermen was also dealt a blow earlier today when forward Yan Stastny was handed a four-game suspension stemming from a game at Houston on March 28. This year in 40 games with the club, Stastny has 13 goals and 23 points, and is a valuable penalty killer for the club as well.

Tonight's game will mark the ninth of ten meetings between the two teams this season, with the finale coming back in Peoria on April 12 at 7 pm. Coverage begins with the Rivermen Pre-Game Show with Tom Callahan one half-hour before puck drop on your Home for Rivermen Hockey, 96.5 ESPN Radio. Also, you may watch the game via the B2 Networks feed at www.rivermen.net for just $6 per game! As always, the internet audio broadcast is available free of charge.
