Binghamton Adds Goaltender Joel Martin

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators announced today that they have signed goaltender Joel Martin to a professional tryout contract.

Martin, 25, opened the 2007-08 season with Binghamton after attending training camp with the AHL club. He served as the B-Sens back-up goalie to Jeff Glass during the first three games of the season.

Martin has spent the majority of the 2007-08 season with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL. In 48 games with the Jackals, Martin has posted a record of 26-17-2 with two shutouts and 3.07 goals against average. His 26 wins rank third in the ECHL while his 2,735 minutes played rank second in the league. He is tied for the league lead in shootout wins with five.

In two previous AHL appearances, 2005-06 with Cleveland and last season with Syracuse, Martin is 1-1-0 with a 2.50 goals against average.
