
Penguins Announce Roster Moves

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forward Nick Petersen has been loaned to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. In addition, the Penguins have released center Cody Chupp and defenseman Peter Merth from their professional try-out agreements and they will return to Wheeling.
Petersen led the Nailers in scoring last season with 57 points on 24 goals and 33 assists in just 40 games. He was tied for the team lead in goals (24) and ranked first in assists (33). Now in his second year of professional hockey, Petersen has compiled six goals and six assists in 28 contests for the Penguins.
Chupp totaled three assists in 10 games over two stints with the Penguins this season. The Big Rapids, MI-native has compiled nine goals, 10 assists and six penalty minutes in 24 games for the Nailers. A second-year pro, Chupp appeared in 58 matches with the Texas Stars last season, registering five goals and eight assists.
Also a second year pro, Merth posted two assists and 22 penalty minutes during 10 games this season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Originally from New Westminster, British Columbia, Merth has registered three points (1g-2a) and a +13 plus/minus rating in 16 games with Wheeling.
