
Coyotes Assign Summers, Goncharov, Pouliot to Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have assigned defensemen Chris Summers and Maxim Goncharov as well as forward Marc-Antoine Pouliot to the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).
The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Summers has played in nine games with the Coyotes this season, collecting three assists. He has appeared in 26 games with the Pirates this season posting 0-2-2 and 35 penalty minutes.
In 2010-11, the 23-year-old native of Ann Arbor, Mich., recorded 1-9-10 and 54 penalty minutes in 75 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). He also appeared in two games with the Coyotes last season, collecting four penalty minutes.
Summers was drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (29th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.
The 6-foot-3, 216-pound Goncharov has appeared in 35 games with the Pirates this season, recording 1-3-4 and 35 penalty minutes. In 2010-11, the 22-year-old native of Moscow, Russia played in 61 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL), registering 6-9-15 and 65 penalty minutes.
Goncharov was drafted by the Coyotes in the fifth round (123rd overall) in the 2007 Entry Draft.
The 6-foot-2, 203-pound Pouliot has played in nine games with the Coyotes this season and has recorded two assists. He has posted 4-12-16 in 25 games with the Pirates this season. In 2010-11, Pouliot appeared in 69 games with the Norfolk Admirals (AHL), recording 25-47-72. He finished the regular season sixth in league scoring.
The 26-year-old native of Quebec City, Quebec has recorded 21-34-55 and 76 penalty minutes in 188 career NHL games with the Coyotes, Edmonton Oilers and Tampa Bay Lightning. He was originally drafted in the first round (22nd overall) by the Oilers in the 2003 Entry Draft.
