Michael Mersch gave the hosts the 1-0 lead on their first power-play chance just 1:52 into the opening frame. Manchester would outshoot the B-Sens 16-11 over the opening 20 minutes to take a one-goal lead into the first intermission.

Mersch recorded his second of the night 12:34 into the second on the game's lone even-strength tally of the game to make it 2-0 Manchester. Ryan Dzingel made it a 2-1 contest just over two minutes later when he beat Patrik Bartosak on the power-play for his ninth tally of the year. Andrew Bodnarchuk restored the host's two-goal cushion with a five-on-three power-play goal at 18:44 of the period to give Manchester the 3-1 lead heading into the final break.

With Binghamton's frustrations clearly showing towards the end of the second period Chris Wideman was dealt a five-minute major for cross checking and a 10-minute misconduct. The Monarchs took full advantage of the major power-play time, chipping in three man-advantage goals within the first 4:11 of the third to put the game out of reach at 6-1.

Andrew Hammond came into the game with 14:47 remaining for Binghamton in relief of starting goaltender Peter Mannino who allowed all six Manchester goals on 33 shots faced. Hammond turned aside all nine shots faced to freeze the final at 6-1 in favor of the Monarchs.
