HERSHEY, Penn. - The Norfolk Admirals were unable to extend their road win streak on Saturday night as they skated to a 3-1 loss against the Hershey Bears at the Giant Center.

For the fifth time in a row, the Admirals were the first team on the scoreboard. Nic Kerdiles took possession of the puck at the left circle and dished it to captain Dave Steckel in front. Goaltender Brandon Anderson stifled the initial shot, but Steckel would not be denied and shoved in his own rebound. Louis Leblanc received the primary assist on Steckel's tally at 9:05 of the first period, and Norfolk took a 1-0 lead.

It didn't take long for the Bears to even the count. On the power play due to an Antoine Laganiere penalty, defenseman Nate Schmidt received a pass at the point and blasted it on net. The puck deflected off an Admirals player in traffic and slid into the goal behind netminder Jason LaBarbera. Tomas Kundratek and Casey Wellman registered the helpers at 11:22 of the first period to tie it up, 1-1, which lasted into the first intermission.

Hershey took the lead with under five minutes to go in the middle frame, in almost the exact same fashion. On the power play, Schmidt exchanged passes with Kundratek in the left circle before slapping the return feed from the point. The puck found its way past LaBarbera at 16:34 for Schmidt's second power-play goal of the evening and Hershey went up, 2-1.

With just 25 seconds left in the period, Hershey extended its lead. Jon Landry possessed the puck at the left hashmarks and passed it to a waiting Schmidt once more at the point. The tally appeared to be the defenseman's third of the game, but was tipped in front by Wellman, putting the Bears ahead, 3-1.

Despite some chances in the final period, including a flurry with LaBarbera pulled late in the game, the Admirals couldn't overcome the Bears' advantage and fell by a score of 3-1.

Anderson stopped 30 of 31 shots, while LaBarbera denied 27 of the 30 shots he faced.

Hershey went 2-for-3 on the power play, and Norfolk was 0-for-4 with the man-advantage.

The Admirals complete their four-game road trip with a rematch against Hershey tomorrow evening at 5:00 p.m.

Three Stars:

1) HER #2 Nate Schmidt (2 G, 1 A)

2) HER #21 Casey Wellman (1 G, 2 A)

3) HER #1 Brandon Anderson (30 saves)
