Peacock and Moore Named to 2011 EL Postseason All-Star Team
August 25, 2011 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release
Harrisburg, PA - Senators' RHP Brad Peacock and 1B Tyler Moore have been named to the 2011 Eastern League All-Star Team as selected by the league managers, sportswriters, radio and television broadcast personnel and other members of the media. They join a class of 11 other Eastern League players who have had outstanding seasons with their own teams. The last Senators' player to make the squad was SS Danny Espinosa in 2010.
Peacock, selected as a right-handed starter, began the season with the Senators. In 16 games, he possessed a 10-2 record with a 2.01 ERA before his promotion to Syracuse on July 14. As of August 23, he was tied for second in wins (14) and is sixth in strikeouts (170) in the minor leagues. Peacock earned Eastern League Pitcher of the Week twice this season. He represented Team U.S.A. in the XM All-Star Futures Game and was named to the Eastern League Northeast Delta Dental All-Star Game in July. He was a 41st round pick by the Washington Nationals in the 2006 draft.
Moore has played a team-leading 125 games for the Senators this season. In April, he had a 10-game hitting streak that included a home run and two triples. He leads the league in home runs (27) and is tied for first in RBIs (80). Moore played for the Western Division in this year's Eastern League Northeast Delta Dental All-Star Game. In May, the 24-year old was named EL Player of the Week. Entering the 2011 season, Baseball America ranked Moore as the 24th best prospect in the Washington Nationals system. The Nationals' 16th round selection of the 2008 draft was named to the Carolina League Postseason All-Star Team and also won Carolina League MVP with the Single-A Potomac Nationals last season.
Several Western Division players have been named Eastern League Postseason All-Stars. Peacock joins two other Western Division pitchers, LH Eric Surkamp (RIC) and relief pitcher Cory Burns (AKR). Catcher Travis d'Arnaud (NH) completes the battery. The infield consists of Moore, second baseman Yangervis Solarte (NB), third baseman Will Middlebrooks (POR), and shortstop Adeiny Hechevarria (NH). Outfielders Chih-Hsien Chiang (POR), Anthony Gose (NH), and Starling Marte (ALT) were also selected. Reading's only representative, Matt Rizzotti, was named designated hitter, and Binghamton's lone selection, Josh Satin, was named utility player.
