
Akron Aeros RHP Cory Burns Named to the Eastern League Postseason All-Star Team

AKRON, OH - Akron Aeros right-handed reliever Cory Burns was named to the Eastern League postseason All-Star Team today.
Burns' postseason selection is the second of his career. He was also selected to the Carolina League postseason All-Star Team last season while with Single-A Kinston.
Burns currently leads the Eastern League in saves with 32 and has compiled a 2.25 ERA on the season. He leads the league in games finished (48) and is second in appearances (49). He also ranks first among all Eastern League relievers in fewest baserunners allowed per nine innings, second in walks per nine innings and third in strikeouts per nine innings.
On August 3, Burns became the Aeros all-time single season saves leader surpassing Randy Newsom (2008) with his 30th save in a win over the Trenton Thunder.
The 6'0, 204 lb. closer has also participated in two mid-season all-star games in his professional career, including the 2011 Northeast Delta Dental Eastern League All-Star Game on July 13.
The Glendale, AZ native was rated by Baseball America as the "Best Reliever" in the Eastern League this season.
Burns was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the eight h round of the June 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Arizona.
