PawSox and Braves Finale Cancelled Due to Rain

June 1, 2016 - International League (IL1)
Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

(Lawrenceville, GA) - Wednesday night's scheduled series finale between the Pawtucket Red Sox and Gwinnett Braves was cancelled due to heavy rains in the area. Because the teams do not meet again in 2016, the contest will not be made up.

Heavy rain showers entered the Lawrenceville area around 6:00 pm and continued for the better part of two hours, rendering the conditions unplayable. The PawSox and G-Braves end up splitting a rain-shortened two-game series, with Gwinnett winning 6-5 on Monday and Pawtucket taking Tuesday's contest, 6-4.

The PawSox next continue their road trip with a four-game series at Norfolk beginning Thursday evening at 7:05 p.m. Pawtucket right-hander William Cuevas (4-2, 3.14) is scheduled to face off with Tides righty Odrisamer Despaigne (1-6, 4.26). Radio coverage on WHJJ (920 AM) and throughout the PawSox radio network begins at 6:35 p.m.

Pawtucket returns to McCoy stadium on Monday for a seven-game homestand against Toledo and Louisville. Good seats for all the games are still available at the McCoy Stadium box office, by calling (401) 724-7300 or by visiting pawsox.com.
