Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

Moosic, Pa. - The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) and the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center are excited to announce that New York Yankees legend Bucky Dent will visit the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center as part of his visit to PNC Field on Saturday, June 4.

Bucky and SWB representatives will be at the center located at 1000 E. Mountain Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, Pa., 18711 at 10 a.m. to pass out blankets to those receiving treatment and sign autographs as part of his Embraced with Love charity. While the visit is closed to the general public, members of the media are welcome to attend.

"Saturday will be a special day with Bucky's visit to see cancer patients at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center and later on in the evening with additional Yankee Legends at PNC Field where we will be raising awareness and funds to continue the unbelievable work Embraced with Love is doing," said Josh Olerud, chief operating officer for SWB.

Bucky Dent's wife Marianne was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer in March, 2014 and fought courageously for 19 months. Through his charity, Legends on the Links, Marianne envisioned and created "Embraced with Love", an initiative to provide cancer patients with blankets to help them feel more comfortable during their chemotherapy treatments. Marianne wanted each patient to feel as if they were wrapped in love, comfort and support as they navigated through their own personal journey with cancer. To date, Legends on the Links has given out over 600 blankets in adult and pediatric treatment centers in Florida, New York, Utah, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania. In addition, "Embraced with Love" has since broadened its scope to include providing much needed financial support to caregivers and families affected by long-term illness and/or physical/mental disability.

"We are most grateful that the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders are giving us the opportunity to continue to carry on Marianne's vision to make a difference in the lives of others with our visit to the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center," said Angie Wildstein of Embraced with Love.

"After witnessing firsthand the courage, strength and grace required by each patient and their family members, it is such a blessing and honor to be able to be a small part of their journey. We hope that the blanket will be a reminder for each patient that we care and will keep them close in our thoughts and prayers."

Proceeds from player photo sales, available for purchase during the game, and an online auction featuring items signed by Yankees legends will benefit Embraced with Love. The auction will take place once the 2016 "Legends Series" is complete.

Dent will be on hand for the RailRiders' 4:05 p.m. tilt against the Columbus Clippers as part of the summer-long "Yankees Legends Series" at PNC Field. Joining Dent will be Chris Chambliss and Roy White. The appearances are part of a special day that features the team wearing purple jerseys for Alzheimer's awareness.

The RailRiders return home for an eight-game homestand on Thursday, June 2. It starts with the first of four against the Columbus Clippers (Cleveland Indians) at 6:35 p.m. The Thirsty Thursday presented by Budweiser features $1 Bud Lights and Pepsi products.
