
Wade LeBlanc Named International League Player of the Month

 The International League announced today that Buffalo starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc has been named the League's Player of the Month for May.  Along with winners from other leagues, LeBlanc will receive an award from Minor League Baseball in recognition of his performance last month.Â
Bisons veteran lefty Wade LeBlanc went undefeated in six May starts, leading the International League with a 0.70 ERA for the month and finishing among the top four in innings pitched (38.1) and strikeouts (36).  After surrendering three runs to Scranton/Wilkes-ÂBarre in a no-Âdecision on May 2, LeBlanc proceeded to reel off a string of 33.0 innings without allowing an earned run.  The streak remained intact after he tossed 6.1 frames of shutout baseball in Saturday's 3-Â0 win at Toledo, his final outing of the month.  For the season, LeBlanc is the IL leader with 62.2 innings pitched and five victories, and he's also near the top of the circuit in ERA (3rd ) and strikeouts (5th ).  He is the first Bisons pitcher honored as IL Player of the Month since Jeremy Sowers in May 2006.  LeBlanc is among the players fans can currently vote for online to send to the 2016 Triple-ÂA All-ÂStar Game by visiting milb.com/vote.
31-Âyear-Âold Wade LeBlanc signed with Toronto during the offseason after having spent the entire 2015 season playing in Japan.  He was originally selected in the 2nd  round of the 2006 draft by San Diego and made his big league debut for the Padres two years later.  He is a veteran of over 100 games in the majors, having also pitched for the Marlins, Astros, Angels, and Yankees.  This is his first season playing in the International League.  LeBlanc is a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana.Â
