January 14, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release

Tulsa Oilers public address announcer Ken Kinder died Saturday January 12th at the age of 42 after a post heart transplant illness. A funeral service will be Tuesday January 15 at 2 p.m. at the Ottawa Tribal Building in Miami, Oklahoma.

Kinder had served as music coordinator (earning the nickname DJ Ken) at Oiler games and later as public address announcer for several years. Last year he underwent a heart transplant, and returned to his public address duties at the beginning of this season.

He was well known and respected among Oiler fans for his unbridled enthusiasm.

"There was no bigger fan of the Oilers than Ken," team president Jeff Lund said. "Ken was one of our biggest boosters and even through his illness he wanted to work the games, and was always following the team. All of our thoughts and prayers from the Oilers go out to Ken's family."

Memorial contributions can be made to the Kenneth Skye Kinder Transplant Trust, through Arvest Bank.
