Arizona Sundogs News Release
Arizona (20-10-4) heads into the All-Star Break in second place in the Southwest Division, one point back of first place Odessa.
Sundogs Storylines:
- Arizona has three players on their way to the 2008 CHL All-Star Game in Tyler Redenbach, Alex Leavitt and David Schlemko. Schlemko replaces Sean Sullivan who is on recall with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage.
- Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro, along with Head Equipment Manager George McNichols and Head Athletic Trainer Dan Welch will be behind the bench for the Southern Conference All-Stars on Wednesday, Jan. 16, securing the Southern Conference's highest winning percentage (.725) through Dec. 23.
- The Sundogs have two of the CHL's leading scorers in Alex Leavitt and Tyler Redenbach. Leavitt ranks second in the league in scoring with 56 points (21g/35a) in 28 games while Redenbach ranks third with 53 points (15g/38a) in 26 games.
- Mark Kolanos ranks second in the CHL in scoring amongst rookies with 35 points (19g/16a) in 34 games. His nine powerplay goals are tied for first among rookies and his 10 powerplay assists are good enough for second among rookies.
- Arizona owns the league's top powerplay, converting at 24.31%. The penalty kill ranks ninth in the league at 81.9%.
- Last season, Arizona ranked eighth in league attendance with an average of 4,225 fans per game. This season, the Sundogs rank fourth with an average of 4,423 fans per game.
