Oakley CHL Player/Goaltender of the Week Announced

The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending January 13th, 2008 are center Daymen Rycroft of the Rocky Mountain Rage and goaltender Ken Carroll of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.

Rycroft wins the award after posting 11 points (6-5=11) in three games last week. On January 9th, Rycroft scored a goal with two assists in the Rage's 5-2 win over Amarillo. Then on Friday, the Beaverlodge, Alberta native scored two goals with five assists in his team's 7-5 win over Wichita. The only loss of the week for the Rage came on Saturday night at Colorado and even in the 6-5 defeat, Rycroft netted a hat trick. Rycroft has been on fire since late November scoring 21 goals with 13 assists in his last 21 games. He currently leads the CHL with 26 goals scored and ranks ninth in points with 45. The Rage are 24-5-3 and in first place in the Northwest Division.

Carroll is coming off a 3-0 week and personally has won 10 straight games. Last week he allowed five goals and stopped 78 of 83 shots (.939 save percentage). On the season, the Oil City, Ontario native is 11-3-1 with a league-best 1.81 goals against average a .937 save percentage (second in the CHL). The big win for the Bugs last week came on Saturday night when Carroll made 23 saves in a 6-2 victory at Laredo. The Mudbugs are in first place in the Northeast Division with a 23-7-3 record and have won 13 straight games overall.

In recognition of their achievements, both Rycroft and Carroll will receive a special gift from Oakley.
