All Star Game This Wednesday
The 2008 Central Hockey League All Star Game is on Wednesday night from the Broomfield Entertainment Center in Broomfield, Colorado at 9:05pm. Three players will represent the Youngstown SteelHounds in this year's All Star extravaganza. Goaltender Andy Franck will be starting for the Northern Conference. Franck is 11-4-1 with a 2.67 goals against average and a .903 save percentage. It is the Lakewood, Ohio native's first CHL All Star Game and second professional All Star selection. He represented the Wheeling Nailers in the 2006 ECHL All Star Game as a rookie. Earlier this season Franck was called up to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League where he posted a 7-1-1 record in nine starts. Captain Chris Richards is making his fifth career CHL All Star appearance and second as a SteelHound. Richards has 13 goals and 25 assists this season. Forward Petr Pohl will be making his first career All Star appearance. The second year pro from the Czech Republic also has 38 points coming from 15 goals and 23 assists. Fans can watch this year's All Star Game live and for free on the CHL Network on www.centralhockeyleague.com.
Turning on the Jets
SteelHounds rookie forward Kirill Starkov may have had his point streak stop at five games but the native of Yekaterinburg, Russia is still lighting up the lamp. He has recorded a point in seven of his last 10 and has scored a goal in five of his last seven games. The sixth round draft pick (# 189 overall) of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft has six goals and six assists in 16 games. He is also the only SteelHound to play in more than two games and still have no penalty minutes.
Home Cooking Tastes Delicious
The Hounds will be home for 23 of the last 31 regular season games with 20 of the 23 games against Northern Conference opposition. Of the SteelHounds last 31 games, only five will be against the Southern Conference. With so many games at the Chevrolet Centre having playoff implications you do not want to miss any of the excitement. Fans still have time to purchase half season tickets, mini plans and more.
