Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - The Central Hockey League named Rocky Mountain Rage centerman Daymen Rycroft its Oakley Player of the Week today for the period of Jan. 7 - 13. He is the fourth Rage player to garner a CHL award this season, joining teammates Scott Wray (October Player of the Month), Simon Watson (Player of the Week, Nov. 5 - 11), and Tyler Butler (Player of the Week, Dec. 3 - 9).

Rycroft totaled 11 points (6g-5a) during the team's three games last week, which included a five-point performance (2g-3a) in a 7-5 win over the Wichita Thunder on Jan. 11 and Rocky Mountain's fifth hat trick of the season during a 6-5 loss to the Colorado Eagles on Jan. 12. The three goals against the Eagles vaulted him into the league lead with 26 tallies on the year, matching his career high he set last season with the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers.

In addition to leading the CHL in goals, Rycroft is also first in the league with 12 power play markers, tied for second with five game-winning goals, and tied for ninth with 45 points (26g-19a) overall.

He enters the All-Star Break having scored goals in a team-record four straight games, a streak that began on Jan. 6 in Oklahoma City when he became the first Rage player to score 20 goals in a season.

Rocky Mountain will host the 2008 CHL All-Star festivities tomorrow and Wednesday at Broomfield Event Center. The All-Star Banquet, which is open to the public, will be held tomorrow at 6 p.m. The banquet features the introduction of the two All-Star Teams plus a performance by Denver resident and 2005 Last Comic Standing winner Josh Blue. The All-Star Game will then be played on Wednesday, when the Northern and Southern Conferences will square-off in a battle for supremacy between the most talented players in the league.
