
P-Bruins Defeat Wolf Pack 5-2

Hartford, CT - The first place Providence Bruins defeat the Hartford Wolf Pack 5-2 Saturday evening at the XL Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Zach Hamill, Matt Marquardt, Ned Lukacevic and two goals from Jeremy Reich. The first place P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday, January 18 versus the Rochester Americans at 4:05 p.m. for LukOil Thunderstick Night.
The P-Bruins began the scoring at the 4:13 mark of the opening period, while shorthanded. Wacey Rabbit stole the puck and worked it into the neutral zone before passing it up ahead to Reich, giving him a breakaway. Reich backhanded the puck into the net for his 13th goal of the season. Hartford tied the game at one at the 8:06 mark. Artem Anisimov netted his 19th goal of the season, with Pierre Parenteau getting the lone assist. Providence retook the lead at the 10:47 mark. Aaron Clarke stole the puck at the Wolf Pack blue line and left it for Hamill. He skated into the left face off circle where he shot the puck into the net for his fifth goal of the season. The P-Bruins went into the first intermission with a 3-1 lead after grabbing another goal at the 12:09 mark. This time, Marquardt caused a turnover and tallied his sixth goal of the season from the right face off circle
In the second period, the P-Bruins added to their lead at the 6:01 mark. Rabbit held the puck halfway along the left boards and found Lukacevic behind the goal. Lukacevic put the puck into the net on a wrap around for his second goal of the season. Providence took a 4-1 lead into the second intermission.
Hartford pulled within two goals at the 10:24 mark of the third period. Parenteau tallied his 18th goal of the season with Bobby Sanguinetti and Anisimov getting the assists. The P-Bruins finished off the scoring with an empty net goal at the 18:44 mark. Reich grabbed his second goal of the game and 14th of the season as the P-Bruins went on to the 5-2 victory.
Tuukka Rask stopped 39 of 41 shots he faced for the P-Bruins, while Miika Wiikman made 9 saves and Matt Zaba 18 saves for the Wolf Pack. The P-Bruins were 0-for-4 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.
