Otters 4th of July Game Postponed by Rain

(EVANSVILLE, Indiana) --- b0 The Evansville Otters Independence Day game against the Schaumburg Boomers has been postponed by rain.

The Otters and Boomers will now play two, seven-inning games on Thursday with a scheduled first pitch of 5:35 p.m. CDT.

Evansville and Schaumburg had hoped to play on July 4 but a storm rolled towards Historic Bosse Field right before the start of the game. The Otters staff tarped the field and the game was officially postponed at 4:51 p.m. CDT.

Evansville will plan to throw left-hander Matt Zielinski (4-3,4.73 Earned Run Average) and fellow lefty Adam Champion (2-2, 3.99 ERA). Schaumburg will pitch right-hander Tyler Watkins (2-4, 3.60 ERA). The Boomers have not announced their starter for the second game.

Come out to Historic Bosse Field on Thursday for the Evansville Otters Christmas in July extravaganza. Fans can get free admission by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the game. All gifts will be given to i Toys for Totsi0 here in the Evansville area. There will be a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Clause at the Evansville Otters game too.

Due to the rainout, the Evansville Otters will now wear their commemorative camouflage jerseys on Thursday. Fans will be able to purchase the jerseys as a part of an auction in the main entrance way to the ballpark.

And lastly, it is also Thirsty Thursday for Thursday's doubleheader. Fans can enjoy $1 beer drafts at Historic Bosse Field along with two baseball games.
