River City Rascals News Release

O'Fallon, Mo - The River City Rascals are proud to announce that catcher Charlie Lisk, outfielder Jeremy Synan, and designated hitter Jason Patton have all been named to the 2012 Frontier League All-Star Team.

For a record sixth time in his Frontier League career, Charlie Lisk has been nominated an all-star and says every year is just as special as the last. "Every time you're elected it's an honor, no matter how many times it is. Just to be able to say you're an all-star, and now for the sixth time, it's an amazing feeling." Lisk led all catchers in votes while leading the Rascals in homeruns (7), and RBIs (31) despite playing in 31 of the teams' first 43 games.

Jason Patton was elected as a Frontier League All-Star for the second time in his career after his inaugural selection in 2010 while with the Gateway Grizzlies. Patton will start the all-star game as well after leading all designated hitters in voting after establishing himself as one of the most feared hitters in the league. Patton set the franchise single-season batting record with the Rascals last year (.343) and has continued to put up great numbers this year, currently hitting .283 while ranking second on the team in homeruns (4) and third in runs batted in (26).

River City's top hitter, Jeremy Synan, will start in the all-star game this season after establishing himself as one of the most consistent hitters in the league. Synan currently sits seventh in the league batting race (.329) and has posted a league-best 22-game hitting streak this season. His 12 doubles leads the Rascals and ranks in the top-10 in the league.

Rascal closer Dustin Umberger received the third-most votes among West Division pitchers and will be honored as an All-Star but will not participate in the event after having his contract purchased by the Chicago White Sox Tuesday.

The 2012 Frontier League All-Star game will take place at The Corn Crib in Normal, Illinois, home of the Normal CornBelters. All-Star events open with a luncheon at the Marriott in Uptown Normal on Tuesday, July 10. The Fan Fest and Home Run Derby will take place that evening followed by the game at 7:05 pm on Wednesday, July 11. Reggie the Purple Party Dude will entertain fans both nights, each of which will feature post-event fireworks. Tickets and additional information for both days are available at www.normalbaseball.com.
