
Six Miners Selected to All-Star Game

Marion, IL - Five Miners will making the trip to the All-Star game at the Corn Crib in Normal, Illinois. RF Chad Maddox, SS Jake Kaase, LF Darian Sandford, 2B Will Block and SP Dave Harden have been selected to represent Southern Illinois for the Eastern Division team. Maddox and Kaase will be starting in the game with Sandford, Block and Harden as reserves. This will be the first season Southern Illinois will be on the Eastern Division side in the All-Star Game
Chad Maddox will be making his first appearance at the All-Star game getting the start in the outfield. Maddox has had a stellar season in both the outfield and at the plate. On the season, Maddox is batting .250 with 6 HR and 43 RBI. His 43 RBI is fourth in the Frontier League.
Jake Kaase will be making his first appearance at the All-Star game getting the start at short stop. Kaase has played well in his first season in the Frontier League. Kaase is batting .281 with 7 HR and 28 RBI. His seven home runs leads the Miners this season and is a career high for Kaase.
Darian Sandford will be making his first appearance at the All-Star game being a reserve. Sandford has used his speed to his advantage all season long stealing a league leading high 26 stolen bases. He's been caught five times and has a batting average of .274. Last night against River City, Sandford hit his first home run which was an inside the park home run.
Will Block will be making his second appearance at the All-Star game, with this time being a reserve. Block has been solid at second base batting .252 on the season. He has three home runs with 12 RBI.
Dave Harden will be making his second appearance at the All-Star game. Harden has truly lived up to the "ACE" role as he has a team high five wins, which is tied with Shawn Giblair. Harden is 5-1 with a 3.13 ERA and has pitched 60.1 innings this season. He's only walked 10 batters all season long in nine starts.
Former Miners relief pitcher Max Peterson was selected to the All-Star Game but had his contract purchased by the Chicago White Sox.
