Ottawa opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning. Gookie Dawkins led off with a single, moving to second on a Pedro Swann walk and to third on a sacrifice bunt from Javon Moran.
Joe Thurston cashed Dawkins with a sacrifice fly. Gary Burnham brought Swann home, giving the Lynx a 2-0 lead. Pawtucket took the lead in the top of the sixth on a three-run home run off J.A. Happ, snapping Happ's scoreless-innings streak at 22 innings. Ottawa tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Jim Rushford, bringing home Brennan King.
The Sox got the upper hand again, scoring once in the top of the seventh and then putting the game away with a run in the top of the ninth.
