Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Buffalo Bisons today announced that LHP Aaron Laffey and LHP Jason Stanford have been added to the team's active roster. Both pitchers are returning after time with the Cleveland Indians.
Laffey is scheduled to start for the Bisons TONIGHT as the Herd takes on the Rochester Red Wings at Dunn Tire Park (7:05 p.m., WECK 1230AM, WSPQ 1330AM, Bisons.com).
The Bisons also announced that LHP Eric DuBose, LHP Rich Rundles and OF Brian Barton have all been transferred to Double-A Akron.
Laffey returns to Buffalo after his first time in the Major Leagues. Promoted from the Bisons on August 4, he made his big league debut that day in Minnesota. Then on August 9, Laffey collected his first Major League win by defeating the White Sox in Chicago (5.2IP, 5H, 4R, 4ER, 3BB, 4K). Combined in the two starts, Laffey went 1-1 with a 5.73ERA (11.0IP, 11H, 7R, 7ER, 4BB, 5K).
Laffey pitched in 12 games for the Herd before his promotion, going 7-3 with a 3.28ERA (82.1IP, 77H, 32R, 30ER, 19BB, 62K). He became the first pitcher in the Bisons Modern Era to win six games in a month when he went 6-0 with a 0.87ERA in six games in June. Laffey is undefeated at the Triple-A level since May 28.
Stanford returns to the Bisons after a two-month stint with Cleveland. The southpaw had his contract purchased on June 14 and went 1-1 with a 4.78ERA in eight games with the Tribe (26.1IP, 32H, 15R, 14ER, 7BB, 16K). He made two starts, including a victory in Florida on June 14 (6.0IP, 6H, 1R, 1ER, 7K).
Stanford was 4-1 with a 3.41ERA in 12 games with Buffalo before having his contract purchased by Cleveland. He is the only person ever to play in seven consecutive seasons with the Bisons in the team's Modern Era. He currently ranks 5th in Bisons wins (24), 3rd in strikeouts (276) and 5th in innings pitched (362.0).
DuBose was 4-3 with a 4.24ERA in 11 games with Buffalo while Rundles was 2-2 with a 1.88ERA in 14 games. Barton hit .321 with a home run and three RBI in eight games with the Herd.
