Orlando Arcia, Manny Pina & Damien Magnifico Named to 2016 PCL All-Star Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Colorado Springs Sky Sox and the Pacific Coast League have announced that Sky Sox infielder Orlando Arcia, catcher Manny Pina and reliever Damien Magnifico have been named to the PCL All-Star Team. Arcia and Pina were elected as starters at their respective positions. The 2016 Sonic Automotive Triple-A All-Star Game presented by Gildan will be held at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, NC, home of the Charlotte Knights, on Wednesday, July 13 starting at 5:00 PM MDT. The game will be broadcast live on MLB Network and MiLB.TV as well as the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network.

Arcia, the top-rated prospect in the Brewers organization according to Baseball America and MLB.com, is hitting .269 (80-for-297) with six home runs, nine doubles, five triples, 45 runs, 33 RBI, 11 stolen bases and a team-leading 117 total bases in 73 games for the Sky Sox this season.

A native of Anaco, Venezuela, the 21 year-old Arcia was named Brewers Minor League Player of the Year in 2015 after hitting .307 (152-for-512) with eight home runs, 74 runs, 69 RBI and 25 steals in 129 games for Double-A Biloxi. In the process he was elected to both the Southern League's mid and postseason All-Star teams. He also participated in the All-Star Futures game at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati and was the Rawlings Minor League Gold Glove award winner at shortstop.

Pina, 29, is hitting .354 (58-for-164) with four home runs, 17 doubles, 25 runs and 30 RBI in 44 games with the Sky Sox this season. He missed 14 games after being placed on the disabled list on June 15. At the time of his injury he ranked fourth in the Pacific Coast League in batting average and currently ranks second in the league in throwing out potential base stealers at 39.6% (19-for-48).

A native of Aragua, Venezuela, Pina was rated as the best defensive catcher in the Royals organization according to Baseball America following the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The All-Star appearance will be the second of his career after being named to the Texas League midseason All-Star team in 2009 while with Double-A Frisco.

Magnifico, 25, has posted a record of 4-5 with a 2.92 ERA (12 ER/37.0 IP) with 30 strikeouts and 12 saves in 13 opportunities with the Sky Sox this season. His 12 saves are tied for 4th in the PCL while his 25 games finished rank 2nd.

A fifth round selection by the Brewers in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, Magnifico will be making his fourth All-Star Game appearance in his fifth professional season. He was previously named a 2013 Midwest League All-Star with Class-A Wisconsin, a 2014 Florida State League All-Star with Class-A Brevard County and a 2015 Southern League All-Star with Double-A Biloxi.
