
Orioles Montanez To Rehab In Frederick

Frederick, MD - The Frederick Keys, Advanced Class-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles welcome Orioles rehabber Lou Montanez who will play with Frederick through its final home series, September 1-3 at Harry Grove Stadium against Kinston.
Montanez was selected by the Cubs with the third overall pick in the 2000 draft and came to the Orioles organization in 2007. In 2008, Montanez had a career year, winning the Eastern League Triple Crown, batting .335 with 26 home runs and 97 RBI's. He was just the fifth player ever to win the league's Triple Crown. He was named Eastern League Most Valuable Player and made his major league debut with the Orioles on August 5th in Anaheim. He homered in his first major league at-bat.
2009 has been an injury plagued season for Montanez who has not played with the Orioles since May 22nd. Montanez had surgery on a ligament in his left thumb. He batted .204 in 48 at-bats with Baltimore in 2009.
