THE HILLCATS: Lynchburg lost 7-4 at Winston-Salem on Sunday night in the rubber-match of a three-game series...Tonight the Hillcats play the first game of a three-game series at Potomac and the fourth game of eight in a row on the road...

VS. POTOMAC: The Hillcats are 9-8 against the Nationals this season and are 3-4 at Pfitzner Stadium...Last season the two teams split the season series 10-10 and the P-Nats were just one of two teams the Cats had a .500 record or better against last year...Lynchburg won the final five games against each other last season...In the all-time series Lynchburg has the edge 151-143 and they are 69-73 in Woodbridge...The Hillcats had won 12 of the last 15 games between these two teams before dropping five of the last seven versus the Nats...

DONE WITH DASH FOR NOW: The series last weekend at Winston-Salem completed the regular season match-up versus the Dash...The Hillcats went 11-9 against the first half Southern Division Champions...The two teams could meet again potentially in the Mills Cup Championship...

STREAKING INTO SEPTEMBER: The game on Sunday night finished the month of August fr Lynchburg with a 13-16 record...The Hillcats won four out of five twice during the month, but also ended the month by losing eight out of ten to drop a season-worst 13 games under .500...On six different occasions the Cats won or lost at least three games in a row...August was an improvement on July, their worst month of the season, when they posted a 10-18 mark...

UNSIGHTLY SIX SPOTS: In the final two games of the series at Winston-Salem the Dash had two separate six-run innings...They were trailing Lynchburg 3-1 going into the bottom of the third inning in game two of a doubleheader on Saturday night, when they plated six in the frame to take the lead for good...The Dash struck for six runs in the bottom of the first inning on Sunday night to take a lead they would not relinquish...RHP Nate Adcock allowed all six of those runs to take the loss...His earned run average went from 3.50 to 6.16 and he has lost two straight decisions after winning three in a row...

CLINCHING AGAIN: The game one win on Saturday night ensures a winning record for the Hillcats in 2009...It marks the first time since 2005 (78-62) that Lynchburg will post an over .500 record...Prior to this season the Cats have had a winning record four times in their 14 seasons played...They have also secured their sixth playoff appearance since the team began play in 1995...

DARN YES: INF Chase d'Arnaud went 2-for-4 on Sunday night with a double, an RBI, a run, a walk and a stolen base...In the series at Wake Forest Baseball Park he went a combined 7-for-11 (.636) with two doubles, a homer, three RBI and three runs scored...His four hits in game one on Saturday night matched the most hits he has had in a single game...In his last 13 games he is batting .353 (18-for-51) and he has hit in 12 of those contests...

STARTING TO POP: 1B Matt Hague went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a walk on Sunday night...In his last ten games played he is 17-for-37 (.460) with five doubles, three home runs, five RBI and six runs scored...Hague is tied for second in the Carolina League with his .295 batting average...

MIGHTY MERCER: INF Jordy Mercer went 0-for-3 with an RBI on Sunday night and had his eight-game hit streak snapped...He still has hit in 16 of his last 18 games and over that time he is batting .314 (22-for-70) with four doubles, two homers, 14 RBI, nine runs scored, seven walks and two stolen bases...He is batting .303 (30-for-99) in August after he hit .226 (26-for-115) in July...Mercer leads the Hillcats with 75 RBI and is second in the league with 34 doubles...

MAC ATTACK: RHP Matt McSwain pitched four scoreless innings in game one on Saturday night to earn his 11th victory of the season...He is now tied for the most wins, seventh in ERA (3.40) and third in innings pitched (140 and 1/3 innings) in the Carolina League...His appearance on Saturday was his first relief stint of the season...In McSwain's last two games he has not allowed a run in 11 innings of work, both games were against the Dash...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Brad Peacock was selected by Washington in the 41st round of the 2006 draft out of Palm Beach Central high school in Florida...He made his professional debut in 2007 with the GCL Nationals and went 1-1 with a 3.89 ERA in 13 games (seven starts)...Last season he pitched for both full-season Low-A Hagerstown and Short-Season Low-A Vermont...With Hagerstown he went 0-5 with a 9.09 ERA in eight starts with the Suns...In his time with Vermont he had a 4-7 mark with a 3.12 ERA in 14 starts...This season he returned to Hagerstown and had a 5-8 record with a 4.05 ERA in 19 games (17 starts) before earning a promotion to Advanced-A...In six games (five starts) with Potomac he has gone 3-2 with a 3.75 ERA...Tonight will be his first start against Lynchburg...
