LAS VEGAS, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers were defeated by the Ontario Reign 4-3 on Friday night in front of 4,777 fans at the Orleans Arena. Ontario winger Ryan MacGregor scored 4:41 into the third period to break a 3-3 tie and give the Reign the win. Las Vegas forwards Kelly Czuy and Mick Lawrence each had a goal and an assist in the defeat. Right wing Matt Beaudoin also scored for the Wranglers, who fell to 6-5-0 at home this season. Las Vegas will host Utah at 7:30 PM this Saturday night at the Orleans Arena.
The two team traded goals in the first period as Ontario's Geoff Walker scored his ninth goal of the season just 7:50 into the game, giving the Reign a 1-0 lead. Right wing Matt Beaudoin tied the game 1-1 with his sixth goal of the season at 12:49 of the opening period.
Las Vegas grabbed a 2-1 lead as Mick Lawrence scored his third goal of the season just 1:10 into the middle stanza. The Reign answered back to tie the game 2-2, Tim Krauss scored his seventh of the season at 10:05. Winger Kelly Czuy poked in a rebound for his first goal of the season at 12:53. Las Vegas moved in front 3-2 with Czuy's goal in his first game back from injury. Ontario's Maxime Boisclair tallied his fourth of the season before the end of the period at 17:44, tying the game 3-3.
Boisclair picked off a loose puck and set up Ryan MacGregor just 4:41 into the third period. MacGregor's third goal of the season gave Ontario the 4-3 win.
Las Vegas will host Utah on Saturday night at 7:30 PM before the holiday break. The Wranglers return from the holiday break on Friday, December 26th at 7:30 PM with the Phoenix RoadRunners.
