Team record fifth shutout of the season propels Victoria to a 4-0 win

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings and the Alaska Aces collide in their second game of a three-game set tonight at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Goaltender Todd Ford got the start for Victoria while Alaska countered with Jean-Phillipe Lamoureux.

In the first period the Salmon Kings took the lead when Chris St. Jacques flew down the right side past the Aces' defender and lifted a shot up-and-over Lamoureux's shoulder. Victoria led 1-0 after the first period of play.

The Salmon Kings increased their lead early in the second period when Scott Howes fired the puck in off a goalmouth scramble. Minutes after Howes scored his second of the season, Shaun Landolt made it a 3-0 game when he fired a shot top corner blocker side past Lamoureux. After 40 minutes the Kings led 3-0.

Sean O'Connor scored on a diving head first tip off a Curtis Billsten pass on the power-play. Todd Ford held the Aces at bay for the shutout. This was the Salmon Kings fifth shutout of the season setting a new team record. Salmon Kings 4 Aces 0.

Victoria went 1/6=16.7% on the power play and Alaska went 0/6=0%. The Salmon Kings out shot the Aces 43-26.

The Salmon Kings and Aces conclude their three game set tonight at 7:05 p.m. as the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Victoria then takes Christmas off before starting a three game road trip in Stockton on the 27th. The team returns to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in the New Year when Bakersfield comes to town for a three game set beginning January 2nd at 7:05 p.m. Call 250-220-7777 for tickets.
