Omaha Storm Chasers June 15th Game Notes

June 15, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

LAST NIGHT'S SUSPENSION: Last night's suspension marked the 13th game affected by weather this season for Omaha which is the most in the PCL (counting postponements, suspensions, delays). It was their third suspension this season, after Omaha had only three suspended games in the last five seasons.

SAY HAYES KID: Brett Hayes extended his on-base streak to 20 games with a first inning two-run double, and his streak is the longest active streak in the PCL and is tied for the longest streak this season for a Storm Chasers batter (Anthony Seratelli's 20-game streak from May 10 to June 1). Hayes is the 19th player in the league with an on-base streak of 20 or more games, and Omaha is the sixth team in the PCL to have two players string together on-base streaks of 20 or more games (Las Vegas, Nashville, Sacramento, Salt Lake, Tacoma). Hayes has notched 21 of his 34 hits and 10 of his 23 RBI during this streak, with his average raising from .221 to .258.

STRANGE START FOR DUFFY: Left-hander Danny Duffy will be making his second MLB Rehab start with the Storm Chasers (fifth overall after starting three games with Northwest Arkansas) as well as his tenth career appearance in Triple-A. In his first start for Omaha on June 10 at Nashville Duffy lasted only two innings while recording no strikeouts, the first time in his professional career he has not recorded at least one strikeout in an outing. Duffy has 537 career strikeouts in 496.0 pro innings.

NO FALU-KE: With a stolen base yesterday, Irving Falu moved into a tie for 8th place all-time in Omaha history with Jed Hansen at 77 stolen bases (Falu is 77/107 SB/SBA).

FEW RUN RELIEF: The Omaha relief staff had not allowed an earned run in 25.2 straight innings dating back to June 7 against Oklahoma City before Brian Sanches allowed a run in the fifth inning. As far back as the series finale with Memphis on June 4, Omaha relievers have allowed only two earned runs (and four runs total) in 34.1 innings. In June, Omaha relievers have given up eight earned runs total in 47.2 innings.

OMAHA AT PRINCIPAL PARK: This series marks the first 2013 trip to Des Moines for the Chasers, with Omaha taking five of eight games at Principal Park last season. In the last ten years, Omaha has won the season series at Principal Park only twice, in 2012 and 2010, and have only won three of the 20 series. During that span, Omaha holds a record of 32-46, with 18 of those wins coming in the last five years (18-20).
