Oklahoma City Comets News Release
Oklahoma City - Home runs from Brett Wallace and Jake Elmore led the Oklahoma City RedHawks to a 6-4 win Saturday against the Round Rock Express in front of a sellout crowd of 10,269 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
The win tied the current series between the teams, 1-1, and put Oklahoma City (36-30) and Round Rock (38-32) into a tie for first place in the Pacific Coast League American Southern Division.
The RedHawks took a 6-0 lead in the fourth inning before the Express scored four unanswered runs. Round Rock's Robinson Chirinos homered to left field to cut Oklahoma City's lead to two runs in the top of the ninth inning with one out. Round Rock had the tying runs on base, but Engel Beltre lined out to Oklahoma City shortstop Jonathan Villar. RedHawks pitcher Josh Zeid then won an 11-pitch battle with Greg Miclat, who struck out swinging, for the final out.
Elmore led the RedHawks with two hits, two RBI and scored two runs. Marc Krauss also had two hits and one RBI. Jared Hoying led Round Rock with two hits and two RBI.
Back-to-back RBI singles from Krauss and Brandon Laird with two outs gave the RedHawks a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Wallace led off the bottom of the third inning with a solo home run to left field - his team-leading 10th homer of the season. A sacrifice fly from Jose Martinez put the RedHawks in front, 4-0, through three innings.
Elmore hit a two-run homer to left field for a 6-0 RedHawks lead in the fourth.
A two-run shot from Hoying in the fifth inning and a sac fly from Yangervis Solarte cut the RedHawks lead to three runs in the eighth.
