Tucson defeats Reno

The Tucson Padres came back from a three-run deficit to defeat the Reno Aces 6-5 Friday at Kino Stadium. The Padres (36-32) are now in second place, two games out of first in the Southern Division.

Mike Jacobs put the Aces in front in the top of the first with a three-run home run over the right field wall. The Padres got one run back in the third on Gregorio Petit's bloop single to center, bringing home Dean Anna from second.

Daniel Robertson started the Padres rally in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double to cut the Aces lead to 3-2. After Anna tied the game with an RBI groundout, Petit hit a double to center, bringing home Robertson to put Tucson ahead, 4-3. Cody Decker smashed a two-run home run onto the top of the left field berm in the seventh to extend the Padres advantage to three.

The Aces scored twice in the top of the ninth, but Miles Mikolas was able to convert his 11th save to close out the victory. Sean O'Sullivan (6-3) earned the win after allowing three runs in eight innings while striking out eight. O'Sullivan also went 1-for-4 at the plate and has now hit safely in nine of the 13 games he has appeared in. David Pauley (0-1) was charged with the loss after surrendering three hits and three runs in the sixth. Reno starter Tyler Skaggs pitched five innings and picked up seven strikeouts.
