Reno Aces News Release

TUCSON, Ariz.-Reno posted a multi-run first inning for the third time in the last six games, but the club fell 6-5 to the Tucson Padres on Friday night at Kino Stadium.

Tony Campana singled to lead off the game, and Chris Owings reached on a walk. Mike Jacobs hit the first pitch he saw out of the park down the right field line to boost Reno to a 3-0 lead.

Aces starter Tyler Skaggs battled through 5.0 innings, exiting the game having allowed just one run on seven hits, while striking out seven. The Aces bullpen allowed five runs over the following 3.0 innings to give Tucson a 6-3 lead.

An RBI single and a groundout pushed across two runs for Reno in the final frame, but the rally fell short.

Reno reliever David Pauley was charged with the blown save and a loss, giving up three runs on three hits to begin the sixth inning for the Aces.

The series continues on Saturday night at Kino Stadium. RHP Zeke Spruill (2-3, 4.71 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the Padres will counter with RHP Brandon Kloess (2-1, 4.01 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

The Aces return home for another eight game homestand against the Fresno Grizzlies and Tucson Padres beginning Tuesday. Tickets are on sale for the upcoming homestand, and all Aces home games, at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
